  • When my sump pump went out, I had sewage backing up in my toilets and tubs. Portland plumbing came over right away. Tips

  • If your water heater is abnormally noisy: Check for scale and sediments inside the tank.
  • If your residential or commercial water is too hot: Check if you have the wrong setting on the thermostat, a defective thermostat, or a blocked exhaust vent.
  • If your toilet is running constantly: Check if the float arm is not rising high enough, that the water is filled to the float ball, if the tank stopper is seating properly, if you have a corroded flush valve seal, a cracked overflow tube, or a ball cock valve that doesn't shut off.
  • Professional Tip: Before doing any work, turn off the water at the fixture shutoff valves or at the main shutoff valve. Open the faucet to drain the pipes.
